Parent’s Name: Kim And Matt Adams
I knew my daughter loved to dance when:
Olivia: The moment we walked into the studio. It was July of 1999. Olivia was not quite 3 yet. We were going through a hard time as my Father had just passed away. We were looking for things to do to keep busy. I thought being so young she may have some anxiety. Quite the contrary. She walked in and never looked back! I knew! And she has been happily dancing ever since 🙂
Claudia: as soon as she stepped foot in the studio.
Julia: At first she didn’t so we allowed her to stop and as soon as she stopped she realized she loved it and had to go back 🙂
My favorite part of the dance year is the beginning of the year. I love when new choreography is being taught.
My favorite costume she wore was:
Olivia: My favorite costume would be her solo costume from last year. The Mother of one of our choreographers is an amazing seamstress and makes a lot of the girls competition line costumes. She makes Olivia’s solo costume every year. We are very fortunate.
Claudia: It was from last season. It’s a white and silver leotard with a cut out middle and one long flowy arm. It was for a Jazz piece called “Imagine”.
Julia: I loved her jazz solo costume last year. She looked amazing in it!
If I could choose a song and style of dance for my dancer, it would be:
Olivia: I would definitely pick lyrical for Olivia . She is a beautiful technician. She dances with such amazing grace and beauty. I help her pick her solo music every year . This year she is doing “The face” by Mark Masri. This is a perfect song for Olivia. Can’t wait to see it.
Claudia: I would choose Jazz and I would have her dance to “Feeling Good” by Michael Bublé. This is a perfect song for Claudia it would show her personality, her amazing Jazz style.
Julia: Style of dance would definitely be tap. She has amazing feet! I’m very excited and curious to see what her new solo will look and sound like. She is doing Sarah Vaughn’s version of Sweet Georgia Brown
My favorite style of dance to watch is… We love it all! Every moment our girls step on stage in any genre of dance we are thrilled!!
When I first became a Dance Mom/Dad, I didn’t know… All the time and effort and dedication it would take to produce so many dances.
My favorite thing about being a Dance Mom is… We get to spend a lot of quality time with our girls while they dance. It’s a whole family kind of sport for us.
Aside from being a dance parent, I like to hang out with my family, cook and play tennis.
My best tip for fellow dance parents is… If your child is serious about dancing dedicate time and effort in ballet classes. All great dancers have a strong ballet foundation.
What are three benefits your daughters have gained from the dance experience?
There are so many benefits, I will try to narrow it down to three.
I can’t imagine how organized you must be with three girls competing – do you have a funny story of trying to make it all work?
With three busy dancers, what is a typical week like at your house?
