Lia’s Mom: Karen Madden
I knew my daughter loved to dance when…
She was up on stage at her first recital ever and stole the show!
My favorite part of the dance year is:
Watching my daughter and her team perform on stage all the dances she (and the team) worked so hard on
My favorite costume she wore was:
Her first solo she performed to a lyrical “Shine”. It was so elegant and sparkly.
If I could choose a song and style of dance for my dancer, it would be…
To dance a lyrical to On my Own from Les Miserables. This is such a beautiful and powerful song from my all time favorite musical. To see my daughter dance to this song would be incredible.
My favorite style of dance to watch is:
When I first became a Dance Mom, I didn’t know…
How quickly I became an expert on makeup, sewing, hairstyles, etc.
What dance product or tip makes dance competitions so much easier?
Keep everything together at all times. As soon as you get home from a competition, organize/refill/clean, etc., so everything is ready to go for the next time.
My favorite thing about being a Dance Mom is…
Watching with amazement each year how my daughter is becoming such a confident, beautiful dancer.
My best tip for fellow dance parents is…
Be as supportive as you can and teach him/her to be the best they can be, work hard and always be a team player and be an example of great sportsmanship.
Aside from being a dance parent, I like to…
Exercise, read, spend time outdoors and spend time with my family.
Thank you Lia and Karen for sharing your experience with us. We hope the rest of your dance year is great.
