    1. Oh no, not the make-up! Glad you liked it. It is fun to see progress in our dancers – what a difference a year can make.

  2. I love watching my daughter grow as a dancer and I am amazed at her dedication and her love for dance. She manages to balance homework and dance classes, excels in both and never complains. I’ve learned a lot about myself as a dance mom and treasure each dance memory we make!

    1. Love this! I am amazed by what today’s youth are able to accomplish. They have so much more to balance both with schoolwork and an increased dedication to extracurricular activities.

Awesome! I agree with them all…..from a dancer turned dance mom I absolutely LOVE everything about it!

    1. Thank you Rachael! So glad to connect with another dance mom. 🙂

  5. OMG…I’m so glad I found you on SITS!!! I was a dancer all throughout school and gave it up when I went to college. It was my life, and I missed it dearly. Life happened…I had two boys and when I got pregnant a 3rd time it HAD to be a girl so I could have my dancer. Guess what, she was a girl! And she finally started taking class at the same studio I grew up at this year. It is the highlight of my week to see her with my old teachers!!! I’m praying she loves it as much as I did…because I want to be a full fledged dance mom too! 🙂 Great post!!!

    1. Awww Marie! I love your comment. So glad you are getting to experience life as a Dance Mom. There is nothing cuter than a little girl in a dance costume. How fun that she is at your old studio. I have a friend whose daughter takes dance from one of my former teachers. I love when she posts pictures. It is so fun to see my old teacher in action with her little one. Love it!

  6. I’m not a dance mom, but this was fun to read. My daughter tried dance, ice skating, swim….and fell in love with soccer. That was it. To this day, 9 years later, she lives and breathes soccer. Its not a sport I grew up with (I’m a runner), but I enjoy watching her play, taking pictures, and seeing the pure joy that comes from the love of a sport!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Michelle! It is wonderful when children find a passion for something. I am a soccer Mom myself and have spent lots of time cheering on all three of my kids on the field. At this point, only one of them still plays and I have a feeling we will be attending soccer games for a loooonnnnggg time. He loves it. Thanks again for your comment.

  7. I love this list! There are so many things I love about being a dance mom! The friends she has made and the friends I have made are near the top!

    1. It is so true – dance friends are special. You share a unique bond and experience that others just can’t quite comprehend. 🙂

  8. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!! Very well written and so very true. Thanks!

  9. I love the time with my daughter driving back and forth to classes; the talks are priceless.

As a retired dance mom, I can say yes to everything that has been written on this blog. But the most important thing I saw my daughter learn from dance was commitment. She was committed from the very start to the art, her instructors, her fellow dancers and to the world of dance. She has grown up to be a well-rounded and open-minded person to the world around her and is not afraid to step up to a challenge. I truly believe dance did this for her. We need more of the fine arts in our children’s lives. It does enrich our lives.
